Wick Holders for Oil Candles
23rd Jun 2014
We do have a story to tell about how we came into being with creating our oil candle supply business. We started in a small kiosk in Branson Missouri, designing and selling oil candles with fragrance, we will fill you in on that as time goes on. We found it difficult to find the supplies we needed in creating our oil candle designs. We needed glass wick holders and wick tubes, and wicks for some of our more decorative candles. So began our search in finding, then manufacturing, the glass wick tubes and wicks, and replacement glass wick tubes for oil candles. We took our business online in 1998 with a very strange name we don't want to admit to. Online business was just really kicking off, so we were in the very beginning of online sales and struggling to learn the ropes. Actually there were no ropes back then. We were all learning! Everything online back then was very new and so very few stores even had an online presence. So we decided to attempt to develop a business in candles supplies. We started with wick holders, glass wick tubes and metal wick holders, were our first part to manufacture.
Wick holders are used to hold the wick in place in candles. Glass wick tubes are used both in oil candles and in wax candles, with completely different applications. We at oilcandlesupplies.com sell oil candle wick tubes and wick holders for rock candles, mason jar candles and several different applications.
Oil candle wicks come in a variety of different shapes, sizes and materials. Our most popular wick holder is the glass wick tube which is used to hold the wick in position in your oil candle. Glass wick holders, ceramic wick holders, and metal wick holders are our best sellers. The glass wick tube is available in 3/4" length, 1.25" length, 2", 4" and 6" glass tubes with either fiberglass or cotton wick to fit. The flange is the wide glass top of the wick tube and it is also available in different widths. The flange holds the wick holder on the top of the oil candle container and wick is inserted and the wick extends above the wick holder, about 1/16" of an inch. If the wick is higher, it tends to smoke.
The ceramic wick holder is a popular bottle wick holder for wine bottles, liquor bottles and beer bottles. The ceramic wick holder is also available in 3 sizes that we have in stock. The ceramic wick holder is available in the tapered cork style that is the popular wine bottle wick holder design. We also have a ceramic wick holder that is a larger size that is designed in the knob style and is a good wick holder for patron bottles. This larger knob style ceramic wick holder is used in larger openings such as small bottles with an opening of about 1 1/4" and the ceramic wick holder then cradles into the opening and holds the wick in place.
The metal wick holder is available in our popular aluminum wick holder, brass wine bottle wick holder, gold tone larger wick holders that fit patron bottles and our popular copper patina look metal wick holder for wine bottles. The aluminum wick holder will also fit wine bottles and is also used in tiki torches.
You must measure your bottle opening or drill the correct size hole to properly fit the wick holder you are purchasing. When you are drilling a hole for the wick holder such as in rock candles, you must drill the hole about 3/8" if you are using a glass wick holder that has a tube size of 1/4". The wick holder must have some room for expansion as glass heats up. Our wick holders are thermal glass.
